Does one have to perform Sunnats Salaah if one is a traveler?

    Wa Alaikum Salaam

It is narrated by Ummi Habiba Radiyallahu Anha that Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: " Whoever reads 12 Rakaats Sunnan every day, a house will be built for for that person in Jannah."

There are many Ahaadeeth that indicate to the great virtue of reading the Sunnan Salaah. It has also been greatly emphasised that it should not be forfeited without a valid excuse as this would be a means of deprivation of the intercession of Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

If a Musafir is on the move or there is a urgent need that has to be attended to for example boarding a train or plane, then one can suffice with Fard Salaah. On the other hand, , if one is stationed at one place or has time at hand then, despite being categorised as a Musafir, one should read the Sunnan Salaah. Not reading under these circumstance will be a means of deprivation.
