One should avoid using a cellphone in the Masjid. The Masjid is the house of Allah, a place of Ibadah .i.e. performing Salaah, Dhikr of Allah, Tilawah of the Quraan .etc. Hence, the cellphone should be witched off and put away when a person enters the Masjid. However, if a person needs to be contacted for a genuine purpose like a doctor who is on call, then he may keep his phone on without disturbing anyone. He should select the vibrate option on his cellphone, as is this way he will be informed if his service are required and he will not be inconveniencing anyone.

    AND ALLAH TA'ALA KNOWS BEST
