As-Salaamu 'Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuh

Men are only allowed to wear silver rings. Titanium, stainless steel, white gold .etc. are not allowed. As for the wearing of a ring, many Fuqahaa (Jurist) and Muhadditheen (Scholars of Hadeeth) state that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam wore the ring out of necessity (to stamp his letters). Therefore this Sunnah is for one who would have some necessity in wearing a ring (e.g. Khalifa /Ruler). As for those who do not have any need for it, it would be merely permissible to wear it. However, the permissibility revolves around the following factors:-
    (1) It must be a silver ring.
    و يكره للرجل التختم بما سوى الفضة , (هندية ج 5 ص 335 )
    (2) The silver must be less than One Mithqaal.i.e the weight of the ring should be less that 4.37g.
    وزان شرعية (
    (3) It must not be a ring known to be worn by women.
و لو كان خاتم الفضة كهيئة خاتم النساء بان يكون له فصان أو ثلاثة يكره استعماله ( بزا زيه على الهندية ج6 ص 368 )
    (4) The Niyyat must not be corrupt e.g. showing off, imitating a fashion, etc.
كرهت طائفة لبسه مطلقا و قالت طائفة يكره إذا قصد به الزينة ( جمع الوسائل ص 171 )
Now it will be better to wear the ring on the left hand and it should be worn on the little finger. If the ring has a stone with it then the stone should be facing the inside of the palm.

    AND ALLAH TA'ALA KNOWS BEST
