Good news from Friday 26 April - A five-year-old burn victim has become the second person in South Africa to undergo groundbreaking surgery. Celiwe Maseko was given a skin transplant using cloned cells that were grown in the United States. Reconstructive surgeon, Ridwan Mia said Wednesday night's operation at the Garden City clinic in Johannesburg was a success, but that the next seven days will be critical. Celiwe was severely burnt last year when her dress caught fire and she has already had 16 operations. Africa's first transplant using cloned skin cells was done on Pippi Kruger last year and her trust fund made it possible for Celiwe to undergo the procedure.http://bit.ly/101Lzbb
