participating in televised game shows

Assalaamu Alaikum.
My question is in relation to participating in televised game shows where money is the prize. This specific game show involves getting asked a trivia question and being offered a multiple choice answer on which u place money on the answer u think is correct. The correct answer is revealed and you get to keep the money that you placed on the correct answer. Is this a form of gambling or is it permissable?

Contemporary Ulama have differed on the issue of using the Television as a medium for the propagation of Dien.
Bearing the above in mind, if the participant does not have to contribute to participate in the game then it will not be gambling.
