burning feet

my feet and soles burn terribly while im sleeping at night. What could be the cause?

Burning feet is more common in diabetic patients which results due to damage to the nerves which causes neuropathy. Burning feet can have multiple causes including mechanical overload especially if you have been on your feet all day and are overweight. other types of nerve damage caused by vitamin deficiency (usually B vitamins), chronic alcoholism, or heavy metal poisoning. certain blood disorders can also cause a burning sensation in the feet. nerve entrapment (tarsal tunnel syndrome) causes compression on the nerves inside the ankle joint. it can also be due to sensitivity to socks/shoes etc. Something like athletes foot can also cause burning in the feet but usually only the infected area is affected
