Slmz. I'd like to know what the ruling is on seperation? How does it work? How long can two people be seperated for? Are u allowed 2 see or speak to one another during the seperation? Does the wife have to go back home to her parents or can she stay in her marital home? Jazakallah

There are two types of separations

1. Separation due to Divorce.
2. Just a normal separation without any Divorce been issued. In this case every thing is permitted that is

1. Living in the same home
2. The separation period could be varied according the circumstances.
3. Communication is allowed during this period both speaking & seeing each other.
4. Its not necessary to leave the marital home.

In the case of Divorce the scenario would be different.

Jazakallah for the info ML. A divorce hasn't been given alhamdullilah. His gone overseas at the moment. He says when he gets back he'll make a decision on whether he wants the marriage to continue or not. Please keep us in your duaas ML, as I don't want him to come home and make a bad decision like divorce. In sha Allah he will come home and make the correct decision and say he would like to give our marriage a second chance. Its been a very trying time please make duaa for our marriage as he hasn't been sympathetic at all during this time.
